New York, NY (Hamptons retail location) · Est. 2017 · Founded by Parisa Fowles-Pazdro
Parisa Fowles-Pazdro was born in Iran, fled during the revolution, grew up in Sweden, and moved to Los Angeles with a designer's eye and an English Bulldog named Macintosh. When she walked into a pet store for the first time to shop for him, she found fluorescent lights, outdated design, and nothing she would want in her home. She built maxbone in 2017 to fill that gap -- modern, beautifully designed pet essentials for the dog owner who has an opinion about everything in their space, including what goes on their dog.
Parisa Fowles-Pazdro grew up with Swedish aesthetics and an eye for design that never turned off. She moved to Los Angeles in 2011, rebuilt her career, and eventually got her first dog -- an English Bulldog named Macintosh. She went to a pet store to shop for him and was genuinely depressed by what she found. Fluorescent lights, plastic packaging, products designed as if the person buying them had no taste. The pet industry, she thought, was archaic. She could do better.
She launched maxbone in 2017 as a solo founder, spending the first eight months without outside investment, juggling everything from securing venture funding to labeling products herself. The premise was simple: dogs are family, and family deserves beautiful things. Maxbone designs its products with human apparel and accessory manufacturers to ensure longevity, sustainability, and the kind of quality that holds up to daily life with a dog. Coats, beds, bowls, leashes, toys, and freeze-dried food -- each one designed to live in your home without apology. Named to Inc.'s 100 Female Founders list in 2021. Collaborations with Christian Cowan, Ouai, Away, and bala. Carried at Bloomingdale's. Kim Kardashian and Beyoncé are customers.
On a registry, maxbone is the category for the couple whose dog is already on the guest list -- and who wants their pet's things to look as considered as everything else in their home.
